SOLO REPERTOIRE
Ljubica Bukvic’s solo repertoire includes a wide range of periods and styles, from the Renaissance to the Contemporary music. Her concert program proves this diversity, although she also offers thematic concerts of Spanish, Catalan, Latin and Balkan composers.
Concierto de Aranjuez by J. Rodrigo, Concerto pour guitarre & petit orchestra by H. Villa-Lobos and Contra-xions by F. Gasull are included in Ljubica’s repertoire for guitar and orchestra.
LJUBICA BUKVIC & YEHOSUA ESCOBEDO
The originality of the present project is reflected in a combination of instruments that composes it, chosen repertoire and different musical aesthetics which derive from two musical worlds where the musicians have been formed: classical and jazz modern music.
The instrumental combination brings rhythmic firmness and melodic-harmonic strength, the fact that allows to emphasize the essence of the music that is proposed in this project with a very characteristic personal style improvisations and own arrangements.
Duo Ljubica Bukvić & Yehosuá Escobedo has made its debut at the Girona Guitar Festival where the Spanish press described their concert as Explosion of Colors and Perfect Unity. The debut was followed by invitations to other festivals and concerts halls, such as Pau Casals International Festival of Chamber Music, Les Garrigues International Guitar Festival, Certamen Miquel Llobet, among others.
Unique performance of pieces by Feliu Gasull, Atanas Ourkouzounov, Leo Brouwer, Lucas Saboya and Miroslav Tadic, bringing the complex rhythms of flamenco, balkan, cuban and colombian music is what the audience can expect and enjoy in Ljubica Bukvić & Yehosuá Escobedo concerts.
DUO COMTAL
Duo Comtal was formed by guitarist Ljubica Bukvic and flutist Camila Moukarzel during their bachelor studies in Barcelona. Their common interest in Contemporary music and close friendship inspired these two musicians to form a duo, which even though they now live in different countries continues to prosper.
Through numerous chamber music projects and a constant joint search for a unique sound and level of expression, the musicians of Duo Comtal have developed into an ensemble that is appealing and engaging to audiences.
Although Duo Comtal’s repertoire consist mainly of Contemporary music with different influences, they also enjoy diving into diverse styles and periods such as Baroque, Classical, Spanish and Latin music, among others.
